Swirl is owned by Bay Area natives, Lawrence Boone and Master Sommelier, Sara Floyd. Having worked together for two years at a predecessor brokerage firm, Sara and Lawrence teamed up in 2003 with a single goal: to build Northern California’s leading wine brokerage firm – focused on “great wines made by great people.” 
Swirl Wine Brokers was founded to fill a void. We saw an abundance of very exciting, new, typically smaller, boutique wineries coming to market, at the same time that there was a consolidation of the mid and larger wineries, as well as distributors. How were these small guys going to get noticed? Who’d tell their story? This was where all the excitement was! So, we jumped in with a few wonderful folks who believed in us. Seven years later, the consolidation continues and the proliferation of many more smaller brands has made it all that more important to have a dedicated broker force in place.

Our team of dedicated sales professionals, living throughout Northern California, are each passionate about wine. They can adeptly tell the stories behind the labels, and are equally capable of explaining the technical and philosophical details for what is in the bottle. We aim to introduce, promote and enhance the awareness for each brand we represent.

We firmly believe in discovering, learning, sharing and educating. We try to continually discover winemaking and grape growing trends before they are “in vogue” and partner with people who not only make, but also want to buy, these exciting wines. We work closely with wine buyers throughout Northern California to introduce, reacquaint and continually support their desire to find important and exciting wines.

Not only are their wines terrific, but everyone would enjoy sitting down and sharing a glass with them and learning more. Typically sourcing their wines from some of the finest estates and vineyards, we strive to have a balanced portfolio of wines from all regions and of many different styles, at the full range of price points. We do also hope that at every price the wines are each a terrific value and always memorable.
